In the Netherlands' thriving gaming scene, familiar games have become predictable challenges for seasoned players. But what if these beloved titles suddenly came with unexpected twists, forcing even the most skilled gamers to adapt or be eliminated? The Invaders teamed up with Red Bull to create Xceptional Player (XP), bringing twelve of the country's most popular creators into the largest gaming arena in the Netherlands for a competition that would turn gaming conventions upside down and crown only the most adaptable player as champion.

Red Bull wanted to make a splash in the Dutch gaming community with an innovative competition format. Red Bull and The Invaders developed Red Bull Xceptional Player (XP), bringing together twelve popular Dutch creators in the Netherlands' largest gaming arena for an unexpected twist on traditional gaming competitions.

Challenge

How can Red Bull connect with the Dutch gaming community in an authentic way that would generate excitement while highlighting their brand's connection to gaming culture? They needed a format that would appeal to both diehard gamers and casual viewers, creating content that would engage across multiple platforms.

Solution

Together with Red Bull The Invaders developed Red Bull Xceptional Player (XP), a high-energy YouTube gameshow, produced on an unprecedented scale,  hosted by the famous content creators Qucee and Fay. The format brings twelve popular Dutch creators together to compete across a variety of familiar games, but with unexpected twists that test their adaptability and skills.

Execution

The show, filmed on an enormous set in e-sports campus H20,  features beloved games from past and present but transforms them with challenging twists that push competitors to their limits. From collecting trash in Sea of Thieves to playing hide-and-seek in Rainbow Six: Siege, each round eliminates one contestant until only the most exceptional player remains.

Notable personalities joined the competition, including Lies Zhara, Chatmo, Egbert, and Cody Dakota, from the reputable gaming magazine Power Unlimited. The competition extends beyond YouTube with Power Unlimited hosting four aftertalks on Twitch and TikTok.

The Invaders also stewarded the implementation of a partnership with Dr. Oetker, because pizza and gaming are of course the ultimate combination, with The Big Americans Lobby. It served as a special green room where participants recharged between rounds, creating additional content opportunities. Big Americans also challenged the gamers with a custom-built TrackMania racetrack developed by our team, adding another layer to the competition.
